Hockey is well known as a dangerous sport, but today, one player today was forced to take a step back for health concerns stemming from off the ice.

QMJHL Defenseman Émile Chouinard Diagnosed With Hodgkin's Lymphoma

The 20-year-old defenseman learned today that he would be forced to step away from hockey following an unfortunate cancer diagnosis. The QMJHL posted their announcement as well as expressed their thoughts and prayers on X earlier today.

".@DrakkarBAC defenseman Émile Chouinard has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Our thoughts go out to him and his family as they navigate through these tough times. 🙏🏻"

This 6'5" defenseman has scored two goals and earned 14 points in a total of 43 games this season. The Markerzone team wishes Chouinard the best.
