Corey Perry's season didn't go according to his plan. After a contract termination in Chicago, the veteran forward finally got the green light to sign another contract in the NHL a few weeks ago. Only days later, his association with the Edmonton Oilers was revealed.
In an interview, Perry shared why he chose the Oilers even if he had many other offers.
According to Frank Seravalli, while the Rangers, Wild and Lightning were in on Perry, he chose the Oilers.
"EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers and free-agent forward Corey Perry have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000 plus performance bonuses.
The 38-year-old right-winger has played 1,273 career NHL regular season games, scoring 421 goals and 471 assists for 892 points. Perry has also played 196 career playoff games, recording 53 goals and 71 assists for 124 points."
He candidly shared that his 6 year old kid influenced his decision:
