Last night the Winnipeg Jets made organizational history when they had the first female player in the history of the organization suit up for a game.

First Female Player In Jets Organizational History

During their ECHL affiliate's game last night, the Winnipeg Jets made history. When their team, the Norfolk Admirals lost one of their goalies to injury history became reality. Emergency backup goalie Mariah Fujimagar was pulled into action and ended up on the bench in uniform.

Note: In uniform as the emergency backup goaltender for @NorfolkAdmirals in tonight's game at @RailersHC is Mariah Fujimagari. After attending training camp w/ @KalamazooWings, this'll be her first time on the bench for a regular-season ECHL game.

Fujimagari would not end up getting into the game but is the latest instance of a woman being able to break a hockey organizational barrier. As the season goes on it will be interesting to see if Norfolk finds themselves in another situation where Fujimagari's services are needed.
