When the Toronto Maple Leafs landed goaltender Matt Murray, some believed that they had found their solution in net, but unfortunately, things just didn't quite pan out that way.

Positive Update on the future of Matt Murray

While he was a Maple Leaf for just one season before needing to undergo major surgery, the Leafs are clearly taking care of Murray, as evidenced by GM Brad Treliving's recent update.
According to #Leafs GM Brad Treliving, the recovery of Matt Murray has been positive, and he is "doing really well."

"He's got a ways to go, but everything has been really positive in terms of no setbacks. He has been on track and things are going well.

We just want to be careful. There's no pressure to get him going. We want to make sure he goes about it [properly] and when he's ready, he's ready. That's off on the horizon."

The prognosis when Murray had surgery was that he would be out for 6-8 months.

Murray to return to the ice in the future?

At 29-years of age, Murray has been in the NHL for over a decade now after leading the Penguins to a Stanley Cup eight years ago, but after major surgery and several injuries, some feared for the future of the goaltender.

While Treliving doesn't explicitly say that Murray will be back on the ice as a member of the Maple Leafs, this update is a very positive one, and if he can get healthy, there's plenty of time for Murray to continue his stellar career.
