One of the Boston Bruins' top prospects is done for the season after his grades make him academically ineligible for the rest of the 2023-24 NCAA hockey season.

Spicer Loses Season Due To Bad Grades

Today it was revealed that Boston Bruins prospect Cole Spicer will miss the rest of the season due to academic ineligibility.

#NHLBruins prospect Cole Spicer (#27 on Bruins Benders Top 30) is academically ineligible at Minnesota-Duluth and out for the remainder of the season. 5-4-9 in 17 games for the 19-year-old who was a 2022 4th round pick

In the NCAA, each student-athlete must maintain a GPA over 2.3 in their core courses. This means that Spicer had grades that did not meet the 2.3 GPA requirement forcing him to lose out on the back half of his season.

This means 1 of 2 things:

1. He wants to play in the CHL, wasn't a fan of college or the coach
2. He severely lacks discipline and needs to grow up.

Spicer was originally a 4th round pick of the Bruins back in 2022 and has the potential to one day be an NHLer but this is a massive blow to his development and his reputation.
