The NHL has made some solid moves over the past few years, but for the most part, every single move they make comes under plenty of scrutiny from the fans, and their latest move is clearly no exception.
The NHL announce an unsurprising new sponsor
After sports betting has become more and more prominent in the world of sports in North America, the NHL has piled on, as they have now officially agreed to a massive extension with BetMGM as a major sponsor.
With sports betting becoming overbearing for many fans, this is a move that's drawn the ire of many, as this means there will be many more ads and more of a focus on sports betting in the NHL, and while it may lead to increased exposure, many believe it's not the right way to go about it.
On top of that, Ottawa Senators star Shane Pinto was suspended earlier this season for a betting related incident, and given the NHL's stance on players betting, it's hard for many to see past the hypocrisy of this latest move.
