Many expect Sidney Crosby to retire with the Pittsburgh Penguins but there is a solid chance that Crosby will wind up retiring elsewhere.

There Is A Solid Chance Crosby Will Not Retire In Pittsburgh

While many believe that Sidney Crosby is a Pittsburgh Penguin for life, there could be a chance that he retires elsewhere if things do not go well with the Penguins.

There are a few teams that could land Crosby for a fresh start but the two frontrunners mentioned are Montreal and Colorado.
If Crosby were to sign with the Montreal Canadiens, he would be joining his hometown team and look to lead them to another cup. While the Canadiens are currently not contending, they could be by the time Crosby is a free agent. The idea of playing for Martin St. Louis, a player Crosby holds in high regard, could also help pry him away from the Penguins.
The other team mentioned was the Colorado Avalanche mainly because of Nathan MacKinnon. MacKinnon and Crosby had nearly identical paths to the NHL and both are surely future Hall of Famers. The two don't get to play together for Team Canada so if they were to unite in Colorado, they could unlock a new level of chemistry that gets Crosby scoring back over a 100-point pace.
At the moment, Crosby has the rest of this season and all of next season on his contract so he will have to wait at least a year and a half before he leaves the Penguins. As it stands, the Penguins are currently 2nd to last in a loaded Metropolitan division and have a low chance of making the playoffs.
