The Predators have been better than expected this year but the team still seems to be going in the rebuild direction.

Predators Give Barrie Permission To Seek Trade

Just last week it came out that the team had given permission to defenseman Tyson Barrie to seek a trade. The team acquired Barrie last season in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers that saw defenseman Mattias Ekholm go the other way.
There is word today the Nashville Predators have given Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams. Barrie is expected to be a scratch vs the Rangers and is a UFA after this season. This allows team and player to see if there is a better fit elsewhere
Since the trade request went public, the relationship between the team and player has quickly deteriorated. Apparently, Barry Trotz was not particularly happy that Barrie's camp leaked the trade request.

Barrie Fights Trotz Over Trade Request

The new Predators general manager disclosed his disappointment in Barrie after the trade request went public. He expressed a desire to build a winning culture in Nashville. Apparently, Barrie doesn't fit in.
Finally, Trotz reiterates he was "very disappointed in the way Tyson handled it... and his group" while returning to his refrain "i want you to come here to win, i dont want you to come here to retire."
The general manager has been rather reasonable in his requests from Barrie though. If he wants to play everyday, he needs to play better, plain and simple.
"I think the player just being in the final year of his contract just feels that he's got to playing on a pretty regular basis. So, hopefully if it's not a fit, then maybe look for other opportunities. But, everything is dictated by his play, he has to be a good player for us. He can be a good player for anybody in the league if we decide to move him."

Barrie, on the other hand, believes that his benching has not been warranted by his play. He added that he can't help the team win watching from the press box. Ultimately though, his argument kind of falls flat.
«Well, if we're getting into it, I'm in the stands so it doesn't really feel like a great fit. My goal is to be playing hockey. Whether that's here or elsewhere is up for the powers that be to decide.»

Fans online seem to have mostly sided with the predators in this case as Barrie comes across as entitled and nasty.
Tyson Barrie got his feelings hurt because the #preds healthy scratched him for the first time in his career and then his camp leaked he wanted a trade - lord what a cry baby - play better or Trotz will sit you
The Predators take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at 8PM EST.
