The New York Rangers look like serious contenders this year. The team holds an eight-point lead over the Hurricanes for the top spot in the Metro division thanks to there remarkable 18-5-1 record. Much of there success has come without Igor Shesterkin, making their current run even more impressive. However, one Rangers forward got the short end of the stick tonight as he was struck in the face with a puck.

Goodrow Struck In Mouth With Puck, Appears To Lose Tooth

30-year-old depth center Barclay Goodrow has been a Swiss army knife type player for the Rangers in the last couple of seasons. This year he's taken on a more limited role but he still wears the A as one of the team's veteran leaders. Tonight he had one of his toughest games of the season as he was forced to exit early after he suffered a gruesome injury.
A close up of the ice where he went down revealed what appears to be a jagged piece of tooth the veteran center spit out after he took a puck right to the face.
It was later announced that Goodrow would not return to the game.
Barclay Goodrow will not return.
The 30-year-old has a goal and two assists for three points this year. While Goodrow has never been known for his offensive prowess, those kinds of numbers are quite disappointing to see, especially given how much money he makes.
The Rangers ultimately lost the game 6-2
The team will be back in action Saturday as they host the Capitals.
