In breaking news, this Washington Capitals star was just healthy scratched for a crazy, unexpected reason.
Kuznetsov Healthy Scratched for a Mental Reset Tonight
It's not every day that a player is healthy scratched to just have the night off to reset, however, that appears to be the case for Evgeny Kuznetsov. The Capitals announced that he will be healthy scratched tonight for a mental reset.
#Capitals 🇺🇸 forward Evgeny Kuznetsov 🇷🇺 will be a healthy scratch tonight against Arizona for a "mental reset."
Kuznetsov, 31, has four goals, nine points in 19 games played with Washington this season.
Important to note, too, that this doesn't sound like a "mental health" reset, as it has been reported as a healthy scratch. Interestingly, the Captials did not use this as a load management reasoning for scratching Kuznetsov, like you commonly see in the NBA.
Kuznetsov is off to a slow start this year, with just 9 points in 19 games so far on the season. We will see if the night off can help him reset.
