In a shocking move, the Montreal Canadiens have sent fan-favourite enforcer Arber Xhekaj to the AHL.
Canadiens Fan-Favourite Arber Xhekaj Sent to the AHL's Laval Rocket
Being activated off IR today, the Canadiens have sent Arber Xhekaj to the AHL. Xhekaj, whose story of being undrafted at every level has made him a fan-favourite, has waiver clearance and can go down without hitting the wire.
Xhekaj doesn't need waivers to go down and the Canadiens need a roster spot for guys playing tonight. We'll see what happens. He will report to Rocket tomorrow, say the Canadiens. Perhaps he does what's akin to a conditioning stint with them until he returns.
