It's hard not to feel for Connor Bedard right now. At only 18, he was in the middle of one of the biggest hockey controversies in years, none of which was his fault.

He has addressed the media for the first time since the rumours emerge, and much to the surprise of everybody, he didn't address it at all.

Bedard Addresses the Media Following Patrick Kane's Signing in Detroit

While Bedard is the future of the Blackhawks, Patrick Kane was the face of an incredible generation in Chicago - winning three Stanley Cups. His Blackhawks chapter closed earlier this year, and he has now signed with the Detroit Red Wings.

In a media scrum today, Bedard addressed Kane's signing:

"It's weird just from being a fan growing up and seeing the success they had and winning those Cups and everything. It's weird for every hockey fan not seeing them in Chicago ... it's probably weird for him, too."

Hats off to Connor Bedard for the maturity he's expressed here. He didn't deserve to experience any of this, yet he is carrying on and staying strong.

There is 0 doubt that Bedard will have a very bright future in this league.
