The game continues to grow globally and in order to get things progressing in the proper direction, China beefed up their National Team's staff with a pair of
veterans in the professional coaching ranks on Tuesday.

Anastas to lead National Team

Spiros Anastas, a former AHL scout for the Winnipeg Jets who brings an extensive resume to the table, was announced as the Chinese Men's National Team new head coach.

It was also announced that Tim Army, most recently the head coach for the Iowa Wild of the AHL, will join the staff as associate coach.

Anastas is no stranger to the international game, having had coaching stops with South Korea, Estonia and Serbia at IIHF World Championship events. He has also served as assistant coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and was the head coach of the Brampton Beast (ECHL) from 2019-2020.

Army was the Iowa head coach from 2018-2023 and prior to that held assistant coach positions with Colorado, Anaheim and Washington of the NHL and Team USA.

The most recent IIHF World Rankings, China ranks 26th overall.
