Today the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that two major members of their team are expected to be out long term.

Two Key Penguins Out Long-Term

Today the Pittsburgh Penguins shared some unfortunate injury news. Both defenseman Chad Ruhwedel and forward Rickard Rakell will be out long-term. Ruhwedel is week-to-week while Rakell does not have a timetable.

Penguins injury update:

-Chad Ruhwedel (week-to-week, lower-body)

-Rickard Rakell (long-term, upper-body)

-Bryan Rust (being evaluated, lower-body).

Bryan Rust is also being evaluated which could add yet another name to the long-term injury list. Both Rakell and Ruhwedel are veteran role players whose presence in the lineup will for sure be missed.

Vinnie Hinostroza, Jansen Harkens, and Alex Nylander were all named as contenders to replace the missing forwards by coach Mike Sullivan.

If the Penguins do have to replace two top-six wingers, Mike Sullivan named Vinnie Hinostroza, Jansen Harkins, and Alex Nylander as the main candidates who will be part of the discussion, as they all have offensive dimensions to their game.

It is not currently known who is in consideration to replace Ruhwedel but should be revealed soon.
