Playing in Sweden as part of the NHL Global Series on Sunday morning, Toronto's Mitch Marner and Minnesota's Joel Eriksson Ek got into a tussle in front of the net that ended in disaster.

Marner takes full whack at Eriksson Ek

With possession of the puck, Maple Leafs defenseman flicked a shot towards goal from the left point and in the process, Eriksson Ek took down Marner in front of the net.
Eriksson Ek fell on top of Marner and remained on him for five seconds before the Wild defenseman got to his feet.
At this point he looked to possibly shove Marner's head and was still tangled up enough to make it difficult for the Toronto winger to get to his own feet.
Eriksson Ek kept at it and pulled Marner around by his shoulders as he began to skate away from the scrum, only to have his legs taken out from behind by way of a two-handed slash.
Marner would receive only a two-minute minor for his infraction, but it is expected that he will meet with the league's disciplinary committee when the team returns home.
The players did link up in front of the net again, late in the second period, with Eriksson Ek shoving his stick into Marner's back, but the Leafs' winger wisely skated off, though not without letting the referees know what was happening.
