The Edmonton Oilers GM just got caught lying live on air after the firing of head coach Jay Woodcroft.

Ken Holland and Jeff Jackson Immediately Contradict Eachother During Press Conference

The Edmonton Oilers are in full crisis mode after starting the season off in the exact opposite fashion many thought they would. After going 3-9-1 to start the year, the Oilers announced today that they have fired Head Coach Jay Woodcroft.
While that wasn't a surprise, what was interesting was how GM Ken Holland and Oilers President Jeff Jackson handled the press conference. Holland spoke to the media saying they discussed things with Oilers veterans this past week, to which he was immediately contradicted by Jackson, who said that veterans were not involved at all.
Are they not saying the exact opposite of each other?

Oilers Executives Seem To Be Not on The Same Page After Firing Head Coach

The issue with the press conference is not necessarily whether or not the players were involved in Woodcroft's firing. I don't think many would think twice if the GM asked the captain of his team what he thought of the coach. However, what is causing some worry is that Jackson and Holland are not on the same page.
I'm seeing some #Oilers fans turning on Connor McDavid because of the decision to fire Woodcroft & hire his old coach.
Just curious, if McDavid outright said "it's either Woodcroft or me" how many of you would have picked Woodcroft?
The brief video of the press conference could be a view into the inner temperature of the Oilers executive, who appears to be in crisis mode with no real plan, or at least a plan that they are on the same page about.
