The Colorado Avalanche have been fantastic to start the 2023-24 season, but on the back of two straight losses, they've added a key forward that could help change their momentum.

The Avs lock down Joel Kiviranta on a one-year deal

After getting a PTO this past summer and spending the beginning of the year with the AHL's Colorado Eagles, the Avalanche have now officially signed Joel Kiviranta to a one-year deal.

After entering camp on a PTO and reporting to AHL Colorado, Joel Kiviranta has earned a one-year contract with the #Avs.

The 27-year old brings with him 163 games of NHL experience with the Dallas Stars, and while he's tallied just 16 goals and 28 points, with the talent that Colorado have around them, he could finally blossom at the NHL level if given the right time and linemates.

Kiviranta's last NHL season came in 2022-23 with the Stars where he skated in 70 games, notching 8 goals and 9 points, and if the Avs can find him to be a solid bottom-six forward, this will be a great pickup.
