Talk about a tirade! A coach in Finland got himself tossed from a game yesterday in Finland for one of the worst outbursts I've seen in pro hockey in a while.

Mid-Game Tantrum

Jonne Virtanen is a 35-year-old coach who just finished a playing career spent almost entirely in his home country of Finland. After retiring, he immediately became coach of TUTO Hockey, a team with the Finnish Elite League. Virtanen, who was no stranger to the rough stuff on the ice as a player, was not happy with a crosschecking call on one of his players, and completely lost his cool. There were several water bottles on the ice, pieces of plastic that look like they came from the bench area, and broken sticks.

Punishment

Virtanen has already received a three-game suspension from the league. He can appeal, but there is a risk as the disciplinary office of SM-Liiga has the ability to increase the suspension if it sees fit.
