Sebastian Aho sticks his leg out on Adam Fox. No call on the play. #NYR
As a result of the play Adam Fox will now be out long term. He was placed on LTIR by the New York Rangers yesterday.
Sounds like #NYR Adam Fox will be out a little bit. He's heading to LTIR.

Louis Domingue has been called up, Igor Shesterkin was also a little nicked up last night. Jonathan Quick was scheduled to start on Saturday anyway.
With such a big hole in the New York Rangers lineup fans and media have been wondering who would step up. Today we got our answer as to the first plan to try and replace Fox.

Rangers Reveal Fox's Replacement

The New York Rangers had their first practice since the injury to Fox. This allowed media and fans to see what the Rangers lineup would look like without him. It sounds as though veteran defenseman Erik Gustafsson will get the first crack at top powerplay minutes.
Must add player in Gus. Sounds like he'll get the bulk of PP1. Add now and we can sort it out later.
It's safe to assume that Gustafsson will also see an increased role at 5v5 with Fox out. In 10 games this season Gustafsson has 4 points. He has shown an ability to be a high-end offensive defenseman in the past. In 2018-19 Gustafsson had 60 points in 79 games.
If the Rangers are going to continue to succeed they will need Gustafsson to find some of the 2019 magic. The first opportunity for the 31-year-old to show his worth in his new role will be tonight against the Minnesota Wild
