During their comments, Gretzky called it a 'so-called' accident, and given the feeling around the tragic situation, it's just such an unnecessary thing to say.
Unnecessary comment
Given the rise of questionable comments around the situation on social media, this type of comment from Gretzky could give credence to those idiotic comments, making this even worse.
With the emotion around the situation for everyone on the ice and the player on the other end of the accident, it's just not necessary, so it's likely that we could see a comment from TNT or Gretzky ahead of their next broadcast.
