Following receiving the second longest suspension in NHL history, Shane Pinto of the Ottawa Senators has released a statement.

Pinto's Statement On His Suspension

As reported by NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun Pinto's statement reveals he takes full responsibility for his actions.

«I want to apologize to the National Hockey League, the Ottawa Senators, my teammates, the fans and city of Ottawa and most importantly my family. I take full responsibility for my actions and look forward to getting back on the ice with my team.»

Pinto is the first player in the NHL to be suspended for sports gambling and receiving a large suspension like this.

Pinto's Sport Wagering

After an investigation was done, the NHL's investigation believes that Pinto never wagered on any NHL games.

The suspension started on the first game of the Senators season, which makes people to believe the investigation started sometime in the summer.

In March of 2022 the league made it very clear that significant consequences would come for anyone participating in sports wagering and this first suspension proves the league is serious about this rule.
