Milan Lucic signed a contract this summer with the Boston Bruins, marking his return to the franchise that drafted him back in 2006.

Before joining the Bruins, Lucic played with the Calgary Flames.
He recently made a surprising revelation about his time in Calgary.

Lucic Opens Up on Time in Calgary and Contemplating Retirement

Lucic revealed that at some points, he was only playing four, five, or six minutes per game and he wasn't having fun anymore.
"It was the exact opposite," Lucic said. "There were games where I was playing four, five, six minutes. You think, ‘This is not what I signed up for. This isn't even fun anymore.'"

Lucic felt lost. He contemplated walking away from the three full seasons that remained on his contract.

When athletes don't enjoy being at the rink, they often contemplate retirement.

Lucic Thrives in Boston

He was ready to call it quits, but things turned around and, as you know, he signed in Boston, where he thrives.
"Grateful is probably the biggest word," said Lucic, discussing his return with his wife, Brittany, and children Valentina, Nikolina, and Milan Jr. "Just being grateful for this opportunity, grateful for this chance."

"Just so I could focus on something new, something fresh," Lucic said. "Because maybe if I had gone back to Boston, it would have been a little harder to deal with. Because that's all I knew. I was used to him being around while I was a Bruin."

Do you think Lucic will retire after his current one-year deal in Boston?
