Canadiens prospect Emil Heineman was forced to leave today's game early after a collision with a referee left him in a lot of pain. The Laval forward was going behind the net in the offensive zone when he appeared to stumble and collide with the ref.

It seems as though the referee's knee may have got Heineman on the head or neck area as the player was on his knees and the ref attempted to jump over him, unsuccessfully. The team updated us shortly after the play stating that Heineman would not return to the game.

Hopefully the injury is not too serious. Heineman was initially drafted by the Panthers in the 2nd round in 2020. He split last year between the SHL and AHL where he put up very respectable numbers. He could end up being a noteworthy player on future Canadiens teams.
