The Chicago Blackhawks won the lottery, both figuratively and literally this off-season. Now they're just getting greedy.

After picking Connor Bedard first overall, they have jumped from a perennial rebuilder to a future contender. Hawks fans last night, however, decided to scratch the 'future' from that.

Hawks Fans Cheer That They Want the Cup

One of the greatest dynasties in the cap era, the Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups with their core of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in the 2010s. Now, with both Kane and Toews out of the organization (seemingly for good), it is time for Bedard to hopefully lead them to another.

During last night's pre-season game against the Detroit Red Wings, fans, who got to see Bedard score his first goal at the NHL level (an empty-netter), decided to start cheering we want the cup!.

Far From a Contender

While they do have Bedard, as well as former first overall pick Taylor Hall, the Hawks lack basically any other good players. Seth Jones is solid on defense, Lukas Reichel is a promising prospect, and Corey Perry and Nick Foligno (and their combined $8-million in salary) will make up a fantastic fourth line... but, they are far from a contender.

Stay patient Hawks fans, you're not too far away!
