The 33-year-old veteran of 13 seasons and four different teams has called it a career. He likely didn't receive any offers to play this year and decided the time had come to end his playing career.

Stepan played nearly 900 games in the NHL and was a consistent middle-six scorer. He was a player that could put up 50 points in his prime every year. He scored 20 goals twice in his career and prided himself on being a productive secondary scorer.

He finished his career in Carolina when he scored five goals and 11 points with the Hurricanes during the 2022-23 season.
