A former 5th overall pick has been released from his PTO blowing his last shot in the NHL.

Juolevi Released From His PTO

Back in the 2016 NHL draft, the Vancouver Canucks selected Olli Juolevi with the 5th overall pick. He has had a tumultuous NHL career thus far only getting into 41 games and registering a lackluster three points.

Earlier this offseason, the Arizona Coyotes decided to give Juolevi a final shot with a PTO contract but unfortunately, it seems like Juolevi has blown his last chance as he was released earlier today.

The Coyotes announced today that the following players have been released from their PTO agreements:
•Olli Juolevi (PTO)
•Austin Strand (PTO)
•Ryan Dzingel (PTO)
•Patrick Harper (PTO)

Juolevi was drafted ahead of a few notable players including Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, and Mikhail Sergachev. The Canucks certainly regret this decision a few years later as having any one of those three players instead of Juolevi could certainly change the outlook of their playoff hopes.
