In a preseason game, a young first-round pick went flying into the boards after a dirty hit and may have broken his shoulder.

Pelletier Injured After Dirty Hit From Studenic

Jakob Pelletier, the 26th overall pick from the 2019 draft, has been making a name for himself in the NHL. Last season he lit up the AHL and earned an extended stint with the Flames where he scored 7 points in 24 games.

He was looking for a larger role this upcoming season but the worst possible thing has happened and Pelletier has gotten injured.

Kraken prospect Marian Studenic sent Pelletier flying into the boards on a completely unnecessary hit and has certainly knocked Pelletier out for the game and probably a sizeable chunk of the season.

Pretty late on this but Marian Studenic was given five minutes and a game for his hit on Pelletier.

Pelletier not on the bench to start the second, unsurprisingly.

Studenic was ejected for this hit and will likely have a hearing with the NHLPA as this hit is completely uncalled for, especially in preseason.

Now, Flames fans will await word on how long Pelletier is out for. Hopefully, it is not too long but if worse comes to worst, he could miss well over half the season.
