Paul Stastny has been a solid, consistent performer in the NHL for 17-years now, and it's clear that he still believes he has value ahead of the 2023-24 NHL season.

According to a report, Stastny has turned down several PTO's this summer, as he believes he's worthy of a full-time contract, even at his age and the amount of games he has under his belt.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has reported that Stastny is willing to remain a free agent when the 2023-24 season begins in order to land a proper contract, and given his experience, there's likely potential injuries or struggles that will open up a spot for him somewhere.

1,100 game veteran

Over 1,145 games in the NHL, Stastny has racked up an impressive 293 goals and 822 points, and while last season wasn't the best of his career, he still provided plenty of value for Carolina.

In 73 games, Stastny contributed 9 goals and 22 points while providing great leadership and depth, and if he is patient as the season approaches, there will no doubt be opportunities for him to land somewhere.
