Throughout his time as a Montreal Canadien, P.K. Subban was a beloved figure for many, and there were plenty of good reasons for it. After all, he ranked among the top defensemen in the NHL, and a big part of what endeared P.K. to people was his unfiltered honesty when speaking to the media. He never looked away from criticism whether it was regarding his on-ice or off-ice endeavours.
While some admired his spirited demeanour, others held reservations. His bold and outspoken personality garnered both praise and disapproval, which would bring upon frequent scrutiny.
However, Andrew Shaw took matters to another level when he commented on an Instagram post that celebrated Subban's overall prowess on the ice. The former CH player didn't mince words, asserting that P.K. "wasn't well-liked by his teammates" and insinuating that Subban played more for himself than his team. It becomes somewhat peculiar when you realize that Shaw and Subban never shared the ice for the same NHL team.
Did these rumors spread throughout the whole league?
With all that being said, Andrew Shaw's credibility is questionable, especially considering his past blunder when he suggested that Kyle Beach, a player who suffered sexual assault within the Blackhawks organization, was responsible for his own ordeal. Shaw even implied it was partly his fault.
It's uncertain whether NHL players today would welcome Andrew Shaw into their locker rooms. Returning to the subject of P.K., though, while it's true he occupied a significant presence in the dressing room, it's hard to believe that he prioritized personal achievements over his team's success. This is evident from his enthusiastic celebrations when his team scored, as he was often the first to embrace the goal scorer. Reflecting on the camaraderie between him and Carey Price and the memorable playoff goal kiss from Andrei Markov, it's challenging to accept that "all his teammates" held animosity towards him, as suggested by Andrew Shaw.
