However, this summer, the forward left for Detroit in a trade that raised many eyebrows.

Trade Alert! The #Sens have acquired forward Dominik Kubalík, defenceman Donovan Sebrango, a conditional first-round draft pick in '24, and a fourth-round draft pick in '24 from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for forward Alex DeBrincat.

Why DeBrincat Wanted Out

Bruce Garrioch, a reporter covering the Ottawa Senators, revealed why DeBrincat wanted out of Ottawa.

Sources say he didn't like his role as a second-line winger behind captain Brady Tkachuk. If that's the case, then DeBrincat really did have to go.

DeBrincat scored only 27 goals and 66 points last season, but could he really have done better on the first line, against the top units of other teams?

Brady Tkachuk, on the other hand, scored 35 goals and 83 points last year. If DeBrincat was unhappy under Tkachuk, he should've worked harder to play better than his captain.

He'll be happier in Detroit, on the first line alongside Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.
