REPORT: Eastern Conference Team Eyeing Two Top Defenseman
An eastern conference team is eyeing multiple top defenseman in hopes of bolstering their blueline.
Sabres Eyeing Top Defensemen
The Buffalo Sabres are a team on the rise. After missing the playoffs for the past decade, things are finally starting to look up with the Sabres being favored to make the playoffs next season.
Currently, they have a relatively young team that does not have many holes. However, they do have one glaring hole which is they only have three top four defenseman, Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and Mattias Samuelsson.
Recent reports have come out that they are targeting two top defenders:
Pesce VS Hanifin
Both Pesce and Hanifin are top of the line players. Both primarily focus on their defense and both are coming off their current deals next offseason. However, there is one big difference between the two. That is their handedness.
Pesce is right handed while Hanifin is left handed. Normally, this would not have all too much affect but the Sabres' top three defenseman are all left handed. This means that Pesce is likely higher on their list but he will also cost more.
The Sabres already have Power and Dahlin playing on their off hand as they are that skilled, both being 1st overall picks of course, but playing one on their proper side could do wonders.
At the end of the day, the Sabres will continue to look for their newest defenseman and we can expect a move to be made in the coming months.
