French Hockey youngster calls it quits
French Hockey player Paul Schmitt has retired at age 20. The Forward had played internationally for France at the 2023 World Juniors Divison 1A, where France played 3rd in the tournament, the second highest form of U20 International Hockey.
2023 World Juniors forward I I Paul Schmitt has retired from professional ice hockey at the age of 20 to focus on his physical therapist studies.
Schmitt has scored 3 goals, 5 assists, and 8 points in 71 career #LiqueMagnus games for the #Jokers de Cergy-Pontoise the last three seasons.
Internationally, Schmitt made his major tournament debut for France at the 2023 World Juniors D1A. He scored 1 goal and 3 points as France won bronze.

Schmitt leaves hockey for personal reasons
Schmitt will leave professional Hockey to pursue a career as a physiotherapist. Schmitt had 5 Points in 35 Games in the French men's league this past season for Cergy-Pontoise, once seen as a quality offensive player in the French youth ranks. Schmitt also had a goal and 3 points in 5 Games for France in 22-23 at the WJC D1A, where he led in faceoff percentage.
