The Toronto Maple Leafs have been awfully busy this summer, but if they're truly looking to go all-in to break their Stanley Cup drought, then we may see another blockbuster or two over the next few months.

An Ontario native

One player that is seemingly becoming a solid option is the Winnipeg Jets veteran Mark Scheifele, who has officially requested a trade out of Winnipeg after a disappointing 2022-23 season.

In 12 seasons with the Jets, Scheifele has tallied 272 goals and 645 points, but at 30-years old, he's still got plenty left in the tank, and could be the perfect pickup for the Maple Leafs.

Salary cap crunch

The one thing holding the Leafs back from an immediate move is their salary cap, as the team would need to move out significant money to make the deal work, but getting the Ontario native into their stacked top-nine could be a massive move.

Right now, it appears Brad Treliving is focusing on the extensions for Auston Matthews and William Nylander, so this move feels like one they may make at the trade deadline, but it's safe to say that this move could change the playoff fortunes of the Leafs.
