Kunlun Red Star, a KHL team based out of China, that largely hosts members of the Chinese National Team, was jokingly asked on Instagram about the possibility of adding Galchenyuk, to which a team's social media admin remarked disinterest.
Alex Galchenyuk has been well documented in Hockey headlines following a hit-and-run incident in Scottsdale, AZ, in which Galchenyuk, while reportedly intoxicated, also made strong verbal threats towards officers, including threatening physical harm against the family of a responding officer, and making racial remarks towards an African-American officer as well.
Days after the incident came to light, the Arizona Coyotes, who signed Galchenyuk to a one-year, two-way contract, terminated the deal, leaving Galchenyuk a Free Agent. On Twitter, Galchenyuk expressed his remorse, saying that his actions while under the influence were "despicable", saying that he would check himself into the NHLPA's Player Asisstance Program to get mental health support following the incident.
Galchenyuk is free to sign with a club, but his NHL status may be questionable pending any legal action faced. A team in Europe may be more likely if they are willing to take a chance on the remorseful Galchenyuk. NHLPA Executive Director Marty Walsh has also confirmed he is looking into a potential grievance claim against Galchenyuk to recover either the full or part of his NHL contract which is valued at $775K at the NHL level.
Kunlun Red Star already has former NHLers playing in it's ranks, as well as having them graduated to the Chinese National Team as legalized citizens. Current notable players include former NHLers Brandon Yip & Ryan Sproul, and Jake Chelios, son of NHL Legend and Hockey Hall of Famer, Chris Chelios.
