Samsonov's Career with the Maple Leafs
The 26 year old Russian netminder signed a 1 year, $1,800,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jul. 13, 2022, after the Capitals decided not to resign him. This showed to be a "prove it" contact for Ilya.
Samsonov played the majority of the Leafs games this past season, securing a 2.33 Goals Against Average and a .919 save percentage in 42 games played. He also played 9 of Toronto's 11 playoff games before going down with injury.
