Hurricanes GM Breaks the Silence on Tony DeAngelo
It was all but confirmed that Tony DeAngelo would be traded back to the Carolina Hurricanes, but a trade fell through at the last minute.
DeAngelo Hits Free Agency
With DeAngelo having been bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers, many assumed that Hurricanes GM Don Waddell was playing the long-game, and intended to sign him as a free agent.
We now know, however, that Waddell hasn't even spoken to DeAngelo's agent.
DeAngelo's Attitude Issues Prevail
The first player in NHL history to be bought out twice, clearly DeAngelo has attitude issues, whether they are public like they were in New York, or more quiet.
With no trade on the table, the Flyers opted to buy him out, and it now appears his top suitor and former team in Carolina no longer wants him.
We will see what happens with DeAngelo's file, but his ties to Carolina appear to be cut.
