Senators GM Pierre Dorion has made NHL history in the worst way possible.

Dorion Makes History

It is safe to say that Pierre Dorion is a controversial GM. Some claim that he is a good GM held down by ownership while others claim he is far from great.

Recently, it was pointed out how Dorion has made NHL history by being the first GM to miss the playoffs six straight years while keeping his job.

Dorion's Good Trades

Dorion has had some insanely good moves throughout his tenure as GM. Recently, he traded for Jakob Chychrun who will fit perfectly in Ottawa.

However, Dorion's magnum opus move was the Erik Karlsson trade.

Through this trade, he got Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris. Those are Ottawa's top two centers and Stutzle is already establishing himself as a superstar only a few years into his NHL career.

Dorion's Bad Trades

For every good Dorion move, there is also a bad one. This can be seen with the Alex DeBrincat saga which saw him acquire DeBrincat for a high price and then sell him for a low price after it did not work out in Ottawa.

On top of this, Dorion traded Mark Stone away to Vegas for pennies on the dollar and we watched Stone captain the Knights to their first Stanley Cup.

On top of this, Dorion blundered Matt Duchene similarly to DeBrincat which saw him trade away the 4th overall pick in 2019 which turned into Bowen Byram and only getting back Lassi Thompson as the only piece of value.

With Dorion's polarizing moves, it could be seen why he is still holding a job with the Senators but it can also be seen why he should have been fired years ago.
