Frontrunner to Acquire William Nylander is Now Known
Trade talks involving William Nylander are intensifying as the star forward's extension negotiations with the Leafs aren't going really well.
Nylander is reportedly seeking a $10M AAV contract, while the Leafs are apparently willing to offer him something around $8M.
Until there's an official announcement, speculations will continue. Now, a very interesting rumor has sparked up on the web, as the frontrunner to acquire him has been revealed.
Nylander Traded for Top Defenseman?
It appears that the San Jose Sharks are interested in Nylander, while the Maple Leafs are interested in Erik Karlsson. Can they make this work?
"I'm told that William Nylander is a key figure in trade discussions with San Jose for Erik Karlsson. Other components will be included, strategically and financially. Acquiring Karlsson might put an end to the 56-year Stanley Cup drought."
A one-on-one trade seems unlikely; the Leafs will certainly need to include more players or picks, at least to create enough cap space to acquire Karlsson.
