This summer's free agency has started off on a high note already, especially in the defenseman department. Now, things have just gotten more interesting in a significant way.

Karlsson Sweepstakes Down To Final Two Teams

The top two teams to land the Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks have been named. And now we know that Karlsson will be ending up on either the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Carolina Hurricanes.

As NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports, it seems to be that the Penguins may currently be in the lead, but it would not be reasonable to count out Carolina just yet.

Trade Request Soon To Be Fullfilled

Per Karlsson's trade request that he announced recently, he wanted to be moved to a team that gives him the best chance of going for a Stanley Cup victory one last time before he hangs up the skates.

These two teams definitely do make the most sense for him, with both having tons of playoff experience and outstanding cores that can definitely take them all the way. The addition of Karlsson to either of these teams would help tremendously, and the ultimate winning team should feel very excited to have him on their roster.
