The NHL's top free agent is officially off the board.

Dmitry Orlov has signed with the Carolina Hurricanes on a two-year deal worth $7.75 million per season.

Big Money for Orlov

Orlov split last year between the Washington Capitals and the Boston Bruins, having being traded by Washington to Boston at the trade deadline.

Orlov put up seven goals and 36 points across the two teams, as his Bruins were unceremoniously dumped in the first round.

This short-term deal allows a quick payday for Orlov, while allowing him to re-enter the market in two years when the salary cap is expected to skyrocket.

The Russian now joins one of the NHL's best d-cores joining Jaccob Slavin Brett Pesce and potentially Erik Karlsson.
