The Anaheim Ducks made a sad announcement in the last few minutes.

Ducks Coach to Undergo Cancer Treaments

Frank Seravalli reported on Twitter that Sudarshan Maharaj, the Ducks goaltender coach, is taking time away from the team to deal with cancer treatments.
Here's Seravalli's tweet:
"Tough news from @AnaheimDucks, who announce goaltending coach Sudarshan Maharaj is taking time away from the team for treatment after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Sudsie is such a beloved member of the Ducks and the goalie union. All the best, Sudsie. Crush cancer. 💪🏻"

Maharaj has been a goalie coach for the last 20 years. He worked for the New York Islanders, and the Ducks, as well as a couple of AHL teams. He also played six seasons of pro hockey in Europe.
Here's what he said during a recent interview:
"While this has been a very difficult time, I have had amazing support from my family and the Ducks organization, especially owners Henry and Susan Samueli. A special thanks also to Jillian Samueli for her amazing support and friendship."

"I plan on fighting this disease vigorously with the help of my tremendous doctors both in Toronto and with the Ducks. The hockey community is an amazingly supportive place, and I look forward to seeing you all soon."
We wish him all the best going forward.
