The Seattle Kraken have lost one of their forwards to Europe. Jesper Froden, a 28-year-old forward from Sweden, spent this past season with the NHL's newest franchise.
Froden Heads to Switzerland
It was announced recently that Froden had signed a two-year deal with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss NL. The announcement came directly from the Lions.
The following has been translated from German to English
"Jesper is a very maneuverable wing with good speed and distinctive scorer qualities. He has scored over 20 goals on average over the past three years. As a right-hand shooter, Jesper will be valuable to our power play. He can also play box play and is therefore very versatile." - Lions Sports Director Sven Leuenberger.
Short Stint
Froden's time in North America was very short, having spent just two seasons in the NHL/AHL before returning to Europe.
Froden signed with the Boston Bruins last season on a one-year contract but spent most of his time in the AHL. This season, Seattle picked him up on another one-year deal, where he scored at over a point-per-game pace in the AHL.
Despite making it all the way to the Calder Cup Final this season with Coachella Valley, and being one of their top scorers, Froden has opted to return to his home continent.
We wish Froden the best of luck with ZSC.
