Recently Connor Hellebuyck and his agent made it clear he does not want to resign with the Winnipeg Jets.
The former Vezina Trophy winner has been the last line of defense in Winnipeg for the last 8 seasons putting up a career save percentage of 0.916.
Over the course of the past few days a number of Penguins insiders have voiced their beliefs that Kyle Dubas should be targeting the star goalie.
The belief is that the trade would allow the Penguins to try to get their core of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang another chance to win a Stanley Cup.
The Penguins Goaltending
Last year the penguins had a tandem of Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith who put up 0.902% save percentage in the regular season.
With Jarry set to test the free agent market this summer many questions arrise of who will be the starting net minder for the Penguins in the fall.
Hellebuyck would be an upgrade but he will come at a cost that the Penguins might not be able to afford.
The Penguins have been looking for a reliable goaltender ever since Marc-Andre Fleury was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2018 Expansion Draft.
