Coming off of a record-breaking season, the Boston Bruins had high expectations heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. But those hopes were dashed when they were eliminated by the upstart Florida Panthers in seven games during the first round.

Almost as soon as the game ended, speculation began that Bruins Captain Patrice Bergeron would hang up his skates and retire from the NHL.
Alternate Captain David Krejci's future is also is question, as retirement rumors have followed him too.

Worst Fears Confirmed

It appears that Bruins fans fears have come true, as reports say that the Bruins are expected to lose both Bergeron and Krejci to retirement.

Winds of Change

The Bruins now face a major turning point this offseason, having lost their top two centreman.
Even though Bergeron and Krejci's cap hit come off the books, the Bruins have precious little cap space.
Due to performance bonus overages, the Bruins have only 15 players under contract for next season, and less than $5 million in cap space.
Could this be the end of the Bruins long run of contention? The offseason moves they make will decide that.
