It is officially official. The Calgary Flames have named their new head coach.

Sutter's Replacement

After ditching Daryl Sutter at the end of the 2022-23 season, the Flames have chosen Ryan Huska as their new bench boss. He is the 24th head coach in the team's history. The official announcement was made today.

Huska has served as an assistant coach with Calgary since 2018. Before that, he was a head coach with the Adirondack Flames, and stayed on when the team relocated to Stockton.

Career

Huska is a former player, although he managed just one game in the NHL, with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 1997-98 season. He also spent a couple of years in the AHL.
