He's very lucky he avoided costing his team a lead in their series.
Alex Pietrangelo of the Vegas Golden Knights missed game 5 of his team's second round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers after being suspended for one game. The punishment was for slashing Leon Draisaitl in game 4
Today, following his team's win over Edmonton the night before in the game he missed, Pietrangelo didn't want to say a whole lot about his actions. He did, however, make sure that he got in a line explaining that he's not the only guilty party.
"It is what it is, you guys all saw it. I'm not going to sit there and dwell on it. The league took care of it, right? So, move on."
"I mean, there's been a lot of shots both way, let's just say that."
Many are shocked that Pietrangelo wasn't punished harder for the brutal slash, and it's hard to blame them. That said, Pietrangelo made it clear he's putting it behind him.
The Hearing with Player Safety
Pietrangelo was then asked about his meeting with the NHL's Department of Player safety and how much the physicality in this series was brought up. Pietrangelo insisted there was no need, saying "it's pretty obvious what's going on."
"It's pre-meditated stuff, I'm pretty sure, coming at me. But, they didn't really seem to care in the meeting.
