When a player makes a ton of money and disappears in the playoffs, criticism is sure to follow. That is the case for Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who failed to score even one goal in his team's second round series against the Florida Panthers. Former NHL Referee Tim Peel let him have it on Twitter.

"Never going to win with Austin Matthews. Doesn't have the jam to play in the playoffs. Too soft."
Peel then wondered out loud whether it was time for big changes within the Toronto organization.
"Time to blow up the Core 4?"
There were a few responses blaming the officials for the Leafs loss after the upheld a call of no-goal in the second period with the puck appearing to cross the line underneath Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. Peel told the fans they've been blaming the refs for 20 years.

What do They do Now?

One thing's for sure, Toronto GM Kyle Dubas has to realize he can't do the same thing over and over and continue to get the same results. Will Matthews be the one to move? Only time will tell, but it makes a lot of sense given the fact that the this isn't the first time Matthews has disappeared in the post season. It should be an interesting summer for the Maple Leafs.
