The Toronto Maple Leafs did something they hadn't been able to do in 19 seasons: they advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by eliminating the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

This had most of Leafs Nation, and the hockey world, thinking this was the year for the Leafs to take advantage, especially with so many first-round upsets.
However, it wasn't meant to be, as the Florida Panthers ended the Leafs' dreams by knocking them out in five games.
Now that the season has ended, many are wondering if this version of the Maple Leafs has had its final chance. The core of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Nylander have had numerous opportunities, and this is the farthest they've ever come.
Not to mention, Auston Matthews has just one year remaining on his current contract before he becomes a UFA. There are going to be changes, obviously, but if Matthews isn't going to re-sign, we could see franchise-altering decisions.
