The Colorado Avalanche had their load of bad news in the last hours.

First, their captain Gabriel Landeskog will miss the entire 2023-2024 season.
Now, they've announced that one of their goaltenders won't be back with the team, as he signed a contract in Europe.

Avalanche Lose Tenured Goaltender to Europe

Jonas Johansson played on and off for Colorado since the 2020-21 season.
In total, he took part in 20 games with the Avalanche, including three this year, in which he had good numbers: a .932 save percentage and a 2.10 GAA.
He has signed a two-year contract with the Farjestad BK in the Swedish Hockey League.
The goalie commented on his contract situation:
"It will be great fun. When I heard that there was interest, I immediately felt that it was a hot option, so that is only positive. I'm already committed to next season." Johansson said about signing with Farjestad BK."

Rickard Wallin, GM of the team, spoke out:
"When we realized that we needed to look for a new goalkeeper, we tried to quickly look at what options were available and pretty soon came up with Jonas' name as one of the options.

When we got to talk to him, it immediately felt very right, and everything we've heard and seen has been very positive.

What I like about him is that despite his experience of being away in North America for six years, it doesn't feel like he's fully developed. There are things to work on."

The Avs will have to find another goalie for next season. Do you trust Georgiev to lead Colorado to a Stanley Cup next year?
