The Colorado Avalanche announced today that captain Gabriel Landeskog will undergo surgery this summer, and miss the entirety of the 2023-24 NHL season. This is heartbreaking news for Avs fans, but former NHL tough guy Marc Methot spoke up about the reality of this surgery.

Brutal Rehab Process Could Mark the End for Landeskog

Marc Methot enjoyed an NHL career of his own as one of the league's fiercest tough guys, and was always a feared opponent. Today he took to Twitter to voice his support for Landeskog, and opened up on his own experience with the surgery he underwent.

This doesn't look good for Landeskog, and if the surgery prevents Landeskog from becoming the player he once was, what does that mean for the Avalanche? Method added that the surgery he underwent was performed by the same surgeon who will perform Landeskog's, so take that information as you will.

This certainly isn't an ideal situation for either Landeskog or the Avs, but if he ever hopes to play in the NHL again, it could be his only option
